Helping Save Endangered Animals

This is a cover image for a portfolio I will do showcasing postage stamps with endangered sea creatures on them. The cover is tan with an overlay of endangered species images. It shows three stamps that I actually had made to use for actual postage. The first is a couple on their wedding day that would be excellent for thank you notes. The second one is a bouquet from a wedding. The third shows Holland's Big Red lighthouse. You can see by the postage that it's been a while since I've use these stamps. All the stamps from this company comes with a postage and a QR code.

1. Custom Made Stamps

This imaginary stamp features the endangered hawksbill turtle with its mouth open swimming right up into your face. It to features the endangered species overlay, and has an aged border. Stamp is on a blue envelope and has a flag postmark.

3. Blue Whale

Here we have another blue envelope and age looking border. This time the stamp is rectangular on an angle and does have a postmark from a couple of days ago. It features Kemps ridley see turtle. For a background, I have chosen a beach showing turtle tracks in the sand and above the waterline there is a hatching nest of baby turtles.
This imaginary stamp has a similar aged border, but no envelope. It has the endangered green sea turtle swimming in an aqua ocean; again with the endangered species overlay.

This month, the Adobe Photoshop daily challenge, designing postage stamps to bring attention to endangered species, is led by Kathleen Martin. So far, I've got a cover for my portfolio and four stamps. I decided to go with sea creatures. I thought about focusing on reptiles, but I think the whales will make an impact, and resonate with more people.

The square stamps are made with Kathleen's provided template. The blue horizontal and vertical stamps are made from a couple of my templates. The cover shows examples of the stamps that I have actually had printed to use as postage; that's why they look different than the others. I’ve used stock images from Adobe Stock and from Pixabay.

I like doing the stamps. I'm a big fan of textures, and the envelopes and stamp edges give me a lot of room to play with textures. Yes, I used to do a lot of grunge work. :-)

Take care, and stay well. Around here, I should also say stay warm. We’ll be lucky this week if it gets above 20°F.
